A few weeks ago, I realized my to-do list was not working the way it should.  Or more realistically the way I wanted it to work.  So, I decided to sit down and really look at my daily and weekly tasks.

Planning For The Weekend

Now my weekly chore chart works great up until about Thursday or Friday.  Once Friday comes I struggle even glancing at my chart until Monday.  I know I need to work on this.  And, I would like to say that it all went smoothly as soon as I tweaked my list.  But alas, I still struggle some on the weekends.  However, the changes I did make made me think about it more.  Now, I am at least looking at my list on the weekends.  Sometime last year, I went through my lists and pared down what I felt I had to do during the week.  I thought this had worked, and it did until recently.

Keep Your List Manageable

I noticed that my to-do list had grown a bit out of proportion.  After all, there are only 24 hours in a day.  No one can accomplish a-mile-long list of things to do and still find time to eat and sleep.  Add on a full-time job, finding time for crafting, and throwing in some fun for good measure and something must give.  For me, that something became my crafting and fun time.  So, I looked over my list and figured out what absolutely had to be done each week.  From there, I can add in two to three things each day to move forward on whatever project I am working on.  The trick is to keep it to two or three things.  Once you start adding more, it quickly snowballs out of control.

Periodic Review Can Be A Good Thing

Sometimes our lives change faster than we want to admit.  And, while our to-do list and weekly chores may still work, it is good to review them occasionally.  You might be surprised how good it will make you feel.  I know for me, I felt guilty for not doing everything on my list.  And, as I said, my list had become a mile long and so the guilt trip seemed to go on for miles to match the list.  However, with a few changes, I feel freer.  This in turn makes me happier.  I can breathe a little easier and give myself a break knowing that my chores are going to get done.  The thing to remember is to give yourself permission to not be perfect.  So maybe not every chore gets done every week, and that is ok, if it works for you.

Don’t let your to-do list keep you restricted.  Especially when you don’t even realize it is happening.  Allow your list to be organic and change as your circumstances change. Thanks for reading the blog.  I am always interested in your feedback so leave a comment and let me know how you handle your to-do list.  Talk to ya soon!  Dawn

Is There Any Truth Left on Social Media?

I have seen a couple of commercials lately that seem to be encouraging us to lie.  Now they are not coming out and saying that, but what they are saying is that no one needs to know the truth.  Let me just say, I think we need more of the truth, especially on social...

Your Desk Does Not Have to be Your Lunch Table
