Today, I thought I would give you a little glimpse into my weekly routine. I will be the first to admit it is not always pretty. And there are definitely days when not everything gets done. But I have found that doing a little each day and knowing what to do each day helps me stay focused (and sane). So here goes…
Break It Up
Mondays are my day to ease into the week. With two cats and a dog in the house, having hardwood floors and no carpeting is great. However, it does means there is a ton of hair to sweep up. I think I could create a new cat with all the hair I sweep up in a week! I try to sweep the main rooms and clean the kitchen every day. Aside from that, on Mondays I dust the living room and sitting room and do a 10 minute declutter. I am always amazed at how much I can get done in 10 minutes. Usually, I feel much better when I can look around and see the actual tabletops. Plus, it is easy to convince myself I can handle 10 minutes. I am not nearly as convinced with a major room cleaning looming over my head. If you break it up, it is only two commercial breaks of your favorite TC show.
Tuesday is what I like to call clean sheet day. And the nerd that I am, I love clean sheet day. First, I strip my bed and the guest bed if I had company. Then I put on fresh sheets. After that, I wash the sheets and blankets. Tigger, my Boxer dog and partner in crime, especially loves clean sheet day. She is usually on the bed sometimes before I finish making it.
You Really Can Keep The House Clean in 10 Minutes a Day
Wednesday is another 10 minute declutter day. I also add in my laundry. My goal is to wash and put away all the laundry by the time I go to bed. Sometimes that works and sometimes it does not. This day is a little lighter for me because I go to Bible study in the evening after work. It reminds me that my chores are built around my life, not the other way around.
Next comes Thursdays, which means trash/recycling day and dusting the bedrooms. Trash pick up is on Fridays around here and they come really early. So, to avoid missing them, I set out the trash and recycling on Thursday nights. Bonus tip, keep extra trash bags in the bottom of each trash can. That way you are never running around trying to remember where you put the extra bags. I also clean the bathrooms. This is a quick clean as I have a monthly chore list that includes deep cleaning (but that is a list for another day).
Keep it Light
Friday is another easy day. Who wants to do a lot of chores on Fridays, not me! I schedule another 10 minute declutter and dust and mop the dining room. In less than 30 minutes I am done, and my house is ready for whatever the weekend brings. Saturdays and Sundays are catch up days and rest days. Although I do like to dust the front porch and keep the spider webs at bay. They really do like my house. And that is it, a week in the life of me.
If you want to start your own chore chart, you can easily modify this one. Or you can make a quick list of each room and what you want to do, say vacuum, dust, clean, etc. Then just break the list up into two or three tasks and assign then to a day. Try not to add too much to one day and be sure to keep your schedule in mind. The idea is to make your life easier not complicate it with a long to-do list you cannot possibly finish in a day. I hope you found this helpful. Don’t forget, I am always interested in your feedback so leave a comment and let me know what your chore chart looks like. Talk to ya soon! Dawn

Is There Any Truth Left on Social Media?
I have seen a couple of commercials lately that seem to be encouraging us to lie. Now they are not coming out and saying that, but what they are saying is that no one needs to know the truth. Let me just say, I think we need more of the truth, especially on social...
