Last week I experienced what I suspect some of you might have gone through, especially now as our homes become our offices and we are stuck inside.  My full time work was getting in the way of my life.  I had a huge project at work and I let it get in the way of my home life.  And this morning, I actually answered the phone in the middle of my prayer time.  It was 7:15 in the morning!  In that moment, I realized this is why I wanted to start this blog.  I want to help you (and me) balance this thing called life.

Don’t Let the Giant Snowball Run Over You

Looking around, I noticed that in getting my work done for my full time job, I had let my house go.  I worked every night and weekend for the last three weeks.  I did not intend to do this when I started out.  But isn’t it funny how things have a way of snowballing and before you know it, the giant snowball is running out of control right for you (much like the boulder in Raiders of the Lost Ark, how appropriate that I just watched that again over the weekend).  And so I set out to try and figure out how exactly I got here so I could start trying to fix it.

 Stay Focused

Yes, you might need to work full time, and sometimes that work may take longer than expected.  There may be seasons where there are big projects that just require more of your time.  But you can take control back.  You can choose to stop working at a reasonable hour so you can get your sleep.  One of the best things I found that helped me was to make sure I started on my routine as much as possible.  If I stay up late to work (or catch up on housework) the next day would suffer and it would take me longer to do even the simple things.

Stay Positive

The other thing I just learned (and I really wish I would have learned it earlier) is that you really do need to maintain a good attitude.  When the bitterness sets in, it can drag you down fast.  And once you are down, it will take you so much longer to get back up.

So if you are feeling run over this week, I encourage you to take a minute to rest and recharge.  Look and see what you can do to stay on your normal routine, but give yourself space.  Accept that work may to precedent right now.  And that is ok, just don’t let it take over.  Remember, this busy period is just for a season and another season is right around the corner.

A Fall Tune Up

Fall is right around the corner.  Yeah!!  I am definitely a fall girl.  Maybe because I was born in the fall, I don't know.  But I always looks forward to fall.  With the first cooler day in August, I pull out my favorite jeans and my long sleeve shirt and get ready...

Is There Any Truth Left on Social Media?

I have seen a couple of commercials lately that seem to be encouraging us to lie.  Now they are not coming out and saying that, but what they are saying is that no one needs to know the truth.  Let me just say, I think we need more of the truth, especially on social...

Five Ways to Stay Sane During Covid-19 Re-Opening
