If you have been creating anything for a while, you know there are sometimes when you hit a wall. You just can’t find the right design. For me this is usually the point where I give up and go do something else. Sometimes an idea will come and sometimes I just get something else marked off my to do list. But if you want to stick it out, where do you turn?
Finding Inspiration Naturally
For me, there are a couple places I turn when this happens. I keep a couple of Pinterest boards for just this occasion. I have a board of cards () and a board simply called “inspiration at every step” (. It is filled with all kinds of things that interest and/or excite me. As much as I like looking around on my Pinterest boards, there are times I like to get out of the office and search for inspiration. So, a lot of my ideas come from nature too.
A Simple Spider Web…
Recently I went out one morning and saw a spiderweb on my car. Now normally this would make me run away or pick up the nearest heavy object and kill the spider (all while jumping around and screaming SPIDER!!!). But since there was no spider and no heavy object around, I decided to stay and get into my car. The web was actually pretty so I snapped a photo. As I went throughout the day, I thought about what I could do with a spider web. And then it came to me.

…Becomes Something More
Not only did this little spider web spark one idea, it sparked two. With a little finesse, I turned the spider web into a fun scrapbook page that would be perfect for Halloween. This is a bonus for me because I love Halloween and any time I can create a Halloween themed scrapbook page, it is a good day. And then as I was cutting out my paper spider web, I came up with a cute gift tag too. Who knew such a simple spider web hanging from my car could turn into two projects I can add to my Etsy shop?
If you want to use the photo it would also be good to check with the artist beforehand in case it is subject to copyright. Best wishes. Aaren Reggis Sela
