I was struck by a great thought today that I think we all need to hear. No one is perfect and no one has it all together. Did you get that? Take a minute and let that sink in, don’t worry I will wait. Let me say it one more time. No one has it all together all the time. We are all struggling and will continue to struggle. I know that sounds bad, and you might be tempted to hit the back button. But I encourage you to read this to the end (or at least don’t tell me if you hit the back button).
Know That You Are Not Alone
So here is the best part of all of this. Yes, we are all struggling, and yes it is difficult to sit at the computer and expose my own struggles to you. But in sharing my difficulties (and hearing those you are willing to share) we can all grow in strength and face those struggles. Just knowing that I am not alone helps me to get up and write these blog posts.
And Know That We Are Not The Same
And the beauty of all of this is that while we are struggling, our situations are not the same. While some might struggle with relationship building, they may excel at organizing. Someone else out there might be struggling to corral the chaos that has become their office or their junk drawer. Can you begin to see it? When we feel like we can’t share with others because we are so broken, that is exactly the time we need to share the most. We convince ourselves that no one should listen to us because we don’t have it all together. But in reality, that struggle might just help someone else. Someone might need to see that you are struggling too. Or someone may share a solution that you never thought of before.
Don’t Run and Hide, Embrace Your Struggles
That is why I am continuing to share this blog with you. Because even though I know I don’t have all the answers, my journey to find at least some of them has given me insight that might help you too. And in the end, if I can save you from even a little research or from making a mistake that I made, or give you an answer I found that you might not have thought of, that gives you more time to devote to your craft, or work, or family. I love to see people coming together to share their struggles so that someone else does not have to go through what they did. So, the next time you feel like you don’t have it all together and want to hide yourself away, remember that someone else may be feeling exactly like you are right now and could use your example. Don’t run away, face your struggles and see what you can learn from others who are facing theirs.
