Have you ever looked around and thought blah? If so, I have three easy things you can do to help make your room inspiring.
There’s More Than Just Paint
I hate to admit this, but I have been in my house five years and I still have not painted a single wall. Not because I don’t know what colors I want, but because something else always comes up (did someone say a new heat and A/C system?). So my walls are all off white, which does nothing to inspire me personally.
Take Your House From Boring to Inspiring
So here are 3 easy things I have found that I can do to inspire me as I walk through my house. And bonus, they won’t cost too much!
1. Re-Arrange Your Furniture
Sometimes something as simple as swapping your sofa with your TV can change your perspective. So jump in and move some furniture around. You can always move it back if you don’t like it. And if you are even more adventurous, change rooms. I am thinking about moving my TV into my sitting room and moving my bookshelves into my living room. I will let you know how it goes.
2. Add a New Signature Color
Little accents like throw pillows or blankets can go a long way in adding inspiration to your room. Find a fun color you like and add pillows to your sofa or a throw across your favorite chair. Or find a favorite image or fun word in a throw pillow. This works great in your bedroom too. I recently bought a new picture bedspread from a shop on Etsy. Now whenever I go in my bedroom I see a fall forest (as long as I remember to make the bed).
3. Add To Your Walls
Never let your walls go naked. Use the walls as a blank canvas. Use this space to hang your favorite photos or find a favorite print. You can even look for a local artist or a local print. Whatever you like, find a photo and hang it.
And here is a bonus tip…burn candles in your favorite seasonal scent or diffuse essential oils. The smells will go a long way to adding inspiration. So if you are getting a little bored with your surroundings these days, use these easy tips to make a few changes. Even small things can add big rewards.
